Ok, this is my mixed media project for one of my classes, digital illustration I think. Who cares, I just know it's one of the projects I gotta do and it's due Tuesday. Blame Justice League for making me start only today. lol.

Anyways, here's the deail. The concept behind the design is to communicate more than one message. At first glance, Yes, I hope it communicates that it's about slavery and a call to stop it. But on a second look, I hope that viewer would see that it's the corporate industries that contribute to slavery in the 21st century. If you read the type I put in (not the article 4 statement, the other content), you'd see that alot of money is made of slavery and you must ask yourself, where does the money go? For instance, does Nike ring a bell?

So to communicate all that what I did was to make hands out of buildings or vice versa. The chain that binds the hand ties those corporate industries to the fact that they play a role in slavery. Make sense? Well I hope so because I've learned that there's 2 types of design: pretty and smart. I hoping I nailed the smart type of design here.

Though this project required research, I designed based on common sense and basic knowledge of slavery. Hey...it's no rocket science and I'm at liberty to communicate my feelings exactly.

All comments welcomed and appreciated especially since I missed the class where I was suppose to present my draft for feedback from the lecturer. So I'm depending on you guys for construtive feedback to help me gain a good mark. And let's not forget I'm dealing with a teacher who apparantly marks me hard and give my work a lower mark than I think it actually deserves.

Thanks in advance guys. dA love to you  :D

Description:
Almost forgot but FYI, this is a mixed media project in which we're required to obviously used mixed media. My methods were:
BG - Painting on watercolour material.
Tear - photography (might replace with scanned tear)
illustration - illustrator
photomanipulation - photoshop: the tear required alot of manipulating, :D

I think the BG of the title would be better if it had a little effect or texture but just as is, I like it. :)

Amazing concept.
I think the bottom is not very good. Somehow it doesn't get together with the main idea. Maybe you should try another font or something. :D

yea, was suppose to be a tear but I didn't get it done right. I'll give it another shot and make it better, I hope. What passage don't you like? Quote it.
Thanks :)

Oh..yea. I've gotta fix that. It looks like a blur when it's suppose to be a tear. I guess it's better if I had done the tear myself in photoshop. But hey, I was tryin mixed media.

no problem :)
or maybe instead of having the bottom part under the top part, put the bottom part on the top part.
You can obtain something very simple, and nice ;)
hope you understand :p

It is surely a successful design, because the elements you have used like the chains, the urban city building, the colours of torture all reflect and go with the title and message you are portraying. its classically done, clean style like your original style and gives a great message/topic which is todays big issue in the world. its truly good!

thanks bro. Since i'm doing class project, it's the first time I actually think I haven't outdone my class mates. This is something I have to put a stop to. I like knowing to myself it's best in the class even though I never admit it out loud but this trip round, it's actually they're catching up to me or i'm dropping back or this type of poster isn't my thing. We'll see in future projects.

thats a good feeling you are getting here, and i appreciate the fact tht you are honest about it. this is called self motivation, as it is important to realise your own potential and reach the limits. ive always seen 2 types of art/graphics around.1) by some artists who r techincally good, but lack the ability to give feelings, thoughts, or emotions in their work 2) by artists who create art with soul and their work reflects thoughts and emotions or certian feelings, ofcourswe they are good. i always used to see ur professional designs and works /interfaces etc, but now after seeing this one, i definately feel you come in the 2nd category i mentioned above. keep it up bro :D
